Olivia's half a year old

Olivia has turned 6 months old!! The above pictures were taken when me, Olivia, her aunt Rachel, and her Grandma all went to Old Navy on a shopping trip while the boys went target shooting with their bows. It was a lot of fun, and Olivia got some really cute clothes. Is it bad that I feel guilty on buying clothes that she will only fit in to for a couple of months? But at least she will be adorable for those couple of months :D

We went to her dr visit and found out that she is 16 lbs. (which is average - 50th percentile) and 27.5 inches long (which is in the 96th percentile). When the dr looked at her height she looked at me and then said, "She must get her height from her dad." I laughed and told her that her dad is only 4 inches taller than me. We are all dumbfounded, she'll probably grow up being taller than both of us. We are so blessed to have such a healthy (and tall) girl.

She hasn't really been doing anything new recently, but she is still the cutest thing to have around. She loves to blow "raspberries" - you know, stick out your tongue and spit. Lately it has been a pretty constant thing for her. In church on Sunday she was sitting quietly in my lap, playing with her toy, and - of course - as soon as the prayer is being said, she starts into one of her loud spitting fests. Babies have the most perfect timing.

She is also getting a bit more vocal. She has two different screams/yells - one is a happy squeal (I think that same squeal is programmed in all little girls, they seem to think the higher the better), she especially likes to perform that one in her crib. And the other is more like an angry yell. I can usually tell when it is nap time when she starts yelling at her toys - she will put the toy in her mouth, take it out to look at it, scowl, yell at it, then shoves the toy back in her mouth and repeat. Every time she "talks" (yells) it makes me laugh, she obviously has something to say and sooner or later she is going to be quite the chatter box.

Olivia has yet to learn to laugh. Most of the time she will open her mouth wide open in a huge grin, but no sound will come out. When she does find something worthy of a verbal outburst, she will make a deep glottal sound that suddenly bursts out, it sounds more like half of a cackle than a cute giggle. And on rare occasions (seriously, we have only heard it maybe 8-10 times) she will give a short, little giggle. I'm sure she will eventually figure it out, but I think she may be a silent laughter. This may be to her advantage - I've been in many situations with Keri where her silent laugh was preferred over my boisterous bellow :D

We have been taking a vacation from solid feeding the last 3 weeks. When we attempted it before, she started to regularly projectile vomit (it wasn't that fun to have to change my clothes and bathe her multiple times a day) so we stopped until we could talk to her dr. We are going to start up again and hope that she just had a sensitive stomach before. The dr said if she starts reacting the same way then we will have to rule out either an esophageal obstruction (meaning the esophagus is malformed), a bad case of reflux, or possible food allergies. None of those are that bad, but I would rather not have to go through the hassle of performing the tests. Wish us luck :D
