We went to Coos Bay Oregon over the 4th of July weekend to go visit our friends Drew and Keri, and it was so much fun! We flew out on Thursday morning and arrived in Oregon mid morning. It was Olivia's first time flying and she did remarkably well. She did create those moments where everyone on the plane wished that she would stop screaming, but that was only for 20 minutes and then she fell asleep for the rest of the time.
Our first day we did some sight seeing - we went to a lighthouse and an overlook to the ocean, and then spent the rest of the evening relaxing and catching up with our friends. We also did the ultimate mom thing by putting our children in the bathtub together and taking pictures of them. Olivia was a different person in the tub with another competitor for her toys - she turned into a spaz by splashing like mad and climbing all over Wes just to get a toy that she wanted. Poor Wes, he didn't know how to respond to a crazy girl splashing and attacking him. I'm sure he is happy to have bath time by himself again.
Friday we went to a beautiful garden that had a fantastic overlook of the ocean. I could seriously spend all day listening to the waves of the ocean it is so peaceful! The gardens were fantastic as well. I love walking around and looking at God's beautiful creation. I tried to take pictures with our little camera, instead I just stole (with permission, of course) some pictures that Keri took which captures the place a lot better than my little camera could.
We went to a nearby beach on Friday night and it was so fun we went again on Saturday morning. Olivia loved the beach! Once she studied and played with the sand for a time, she started crawling around with a big grin on her face. We took her down to the water and let her walk into the little waves. Even though the water was cold, she would get a small smile on her face every time a wave would splash over her little feet.
Saturday night we went to a lake and we took Drew's sailboat out onto the lake to sail around a bit before we anchored down right in front of the barge where they were doing the big firework show. We have never been sailing before, and we had a lot of fun! Nathan and I even got to steer the boat around, of course we weren't "sailing", rather the motor was pushing us around, but we were still steering the boat :) The firework show was fantastic. The fireworks woke Olivia up, so we took her out to watch them. Nathan and I were both surprised to find out that she actually liked the fireworks. We thought she would get scared, but she smiled and eagerly watched as each firework went off. It was a great way to celebrate Independence day.
Sunday was spent relaxing and napping. Keri took me to a secluded little spot where you can watch the ocean. It was great to sit and relax and talk to a good friend - thanks Keri for letting me in on your little secret :) Keri also took some family pictures for us in her studio in her garage. I think they all turned out pretty awesome - Thanks Keri. Sunday night we went to a neighborhood get-together where we ate good food and watched some more fireworks - which I think scared me more than the kids that were there. It was a good 4th of July.
We came home Monday where we were able to rest a bit before we went back to work. It was a fantastic vacation. Thanks to Drew and Keri for such a wonderful weekend, we definitely need to do this again!

no no thank you....and he was happy to have his bath back, however, now i think he misses having her around with to watch.
